Equipment

Equipment or Component Comments
In Air Operation Use of a nosecone limits the q-range available
In Vacuum Operation Sealed samples containers are needed to avoid evaporation. System vents to 0.5 mbar.

Capillary Rack
  • Users are asked to supply their own capillaries
    • we keep only a small stock on hand
  • We recomend quartz glass capillaries from Capillary tube supplies ltd
    • 1.5 mm best balance of toughness and scattering to absorbtion ratio for aquious solutions
    • Consider 2.0 mm for weakly scattering samples
  •  25 position racks avalible including for Mail-In
Solids Rack

6mm disc in Mail in holder, up to 45 postions

 4 x 20mm, 5 x 10mm 16 x 5mm discs in Xenocs Holder

Gel Holder 8 positions for ∅ 4mm x 0.5, 1 and 2mm thickness
Powder Holder 15 x 6mm x 0.75mm spacing. Kapton Disks hold sample in place.
Liquid Capillary Flow Cell One sample position flow set up, manual or automatic sample injection possible. in-line pH monitoring avalible. Please contact beamline team before submitting.
Peltier Temperature Stage 5-120 ºC Range ±5ºC precission, Solids/Capillaries/Gels holders available. For 1.5 & 2.0mm capillaries only.  5-90 ºC for aquious samples.
2 or 3 Axis GiSAXS Stage

2 Axis stage can support multiple samples on a 25x100 mm platform, and can be used in-air or in vacuum. 3 Axis stage can only support one sample on a ∅ 60 mm platform and must be used in vacuum but allows rotation. ±3°; precision= 0.002°. Statics or Peltier. Humidity chamber and supply available for 2-axis stage.

Linkam DSC stage

-185--650 ºC range. Temperature data not integrated with SAXS data. Manual time-coreallation of SAXS images with temperature ramps required

P-jump cell P-Jump Cell (ambiant temprature; labSAXS heating options to be developed. 50 to 5000 bar). Mo source only. Very long exposures required. Please contact beamline team before submitting.
