Training for photon & neutron science.

One of the positive outcomes of the EU Expands project was the delivery of a Training portal for the PaN community.

On this platform, you can consult or add new events such as workshops, but you have also other features:

  •  repository for training: The platform acts as a repository of links, there is a catalogue and when you register your training material you can add metadata. You can’t store directly the data there, you have to use zenodo or another website, but it can be useful if you want to prepare a workshop, as you can have all the link in one place, and it is also FAIR. Examples here  https://pan-training.eu/materials

  • Creating workflows: this part is really useful for training purpose because, as its name implies, you can create processing workflow to describe a synchrotron session, and describe the whole data harvest/data analysis process. You can find some example here : https://pan-training.eu/workflows
  • There is also a moodle instance if you want to create real course online.

The Diamond Summer/Autumn School usually has a lecture on Scattering. A pdf of one of the recent presentations can be found here.

There's lots of information out there on SAXS, but where to start? On these pages we have placed useful tutorials on most of the major areas of science covered by the technique, and how SAXS can help together with links to resources we hope you will find useful. In particular, we have tried to put together a useful guide to biological solution scattering for users of Diamond.

The tutorials come from the S4SAS Workshops we've held so far. These were aimed at those new to SAXS and those who would like a refresher! The workshops are held in conjunction with the UK SAXS User Meeting, which brings together the community to discuss the latest science and issues relating to the development of the technique.

We have also provided links to external resources we think you might find useful, including software and reference materials. The SAS Portal is a particularly useful resource for the Small Angle Scatterer containing background information, general information on best practise in SAS measurement and the software users can user to analyse the data.
