LabSAXS offers access though PRP (to be submitted before the 6-monthly deadlines) as well as Mail-in and in-person Rapid Access (avalible throught the year). Applications should be made through UAS in the normal way. In UAS the instrument is listed as "DL-SAXS".
Visits are avalible for both data collection and sample environment development time.
All beamline capabilities are as avalible though any access route. Applications have been accepted for sample meaurment and sample environment development.
All in-person access routes come with two people's subsitance for standard visits and sample environment development time, and up to three people's substance costs for more complcated data-collection experiments.
labSAXS is treated as another instrument in the Diamond suite of facilities. As such it is available for PRP access during the regular calls every 6 months.
Long Term propsals that are for developing sample environments and/or other data collection strategies in conjunction with the Sample Environment Development Lab (SEDL) are encouraged.
We offer a Rapid Access service which includes both in-person visits and mail-in. These can be applied for at any time and will be run as soon as possible around existing scheduled instrument use.
There is no defined deadline for either Mail-in or in-person Rapid Access calls. Proposals will be assessed as soon as they are submitted and time will be offered to all applicants subject to normal checks.
Please use this Rapid Access proposal form, for both in-person rapid access and mail-in uploading it as your science case when you submit a proposal for mail in or Rapid Access.
At present it is genrally possible to schedule visits or mail-in within one month of the request, although quicker is sometimes possible. For mail-in please allow time for us to ship the mail-in kit to you.
Once you receive confirmation about awarded beamtime, you can expect a delivery from the DL-SAXS team with sample holders and preparation materials.
You will be required to fill in the Mail-in Experimental Form, closely following all instructions (the closer you follow the instructions, the easier it will be for the beamline scientist to run your samples correctly!).
Next, you are expected to prepare samples, pack them carefully and send back to us providing all safety documentation via UAS. Instructions on sample preparation can be found within the Mail-in Experimental Form.
