The HC1 device is availabe on demand for Diamond users and can be installed in some of the MX beamlines as well as in one of our user labs.

We will get in touch with you to get a better understanding of the proposed experiment, so that we can provide guidance on the preparation and transport of samples, discuss the method in detail, assign you a scientific contact, and arrange for dedicated beamtime depending on the availability of instruments.

As this is shared across beamlines, we provide it in a first-come-first-served basis, so it is advisable not to leave the booking to the last minute.

Access modes

We also provide different modes of access, based on the experience of the user and the experimental requirements:

• As part of an onsite visit allocated in your BAG beamtime 
• As part of a laboratory-based visit. This is also onsite, but the samples will be cryocooled and can be collected as part of allocated beamtime either during an onsite beamtime or as part of a remote or UDC visit
• As part of a collaboration with experienced DLS staff (dedicated beamtime is available, so it is not necessary for you to have a running proposal)
• As part of a rapid access beamtime (we will provide you info on how to apply upon discussion of the project)
