Spectroscopy Instrumentation

We are currently developing UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy instrumentation for use both offline and on the MX beamlines at Diamond. UV-Vis absorption can allow in-situ verification and tracking of changes in protonation, redox and spin states in protein crystals.

The instrumentation is currently in the final stages of commissioning and is available to users on request.

Andor 303 imaging spectrograph + air cooled Newton EM-CCD:

• The Andor spectrograph features a motorised grating turret, allowing easy selection of the wavelength range of interest. Control is through the Andor Solis software. This is easy to use and instruction will be given in its use.
• The resolution of the spectrograph is better than 0.5nm.

Light Source

• Ocean optics deuterium tungsten halogen lamp.

Lenses

• Reflective objectives from maatel
• Custom (diamond designed) brackets allow easy adjustment on and offline

Optical fibres

• A selection of optical fibres are available for use ranging from 50 micron to 400 micron diameter.

Cryostream/ HC1

• Both compatible with the setup on and offline.
• If needed the HC1 should be booked for on or offline use
• If needed a cryostream should be booked for offline use
