We would like to invite you to the next instalment of our monthly webinar series, a Live Family Webinar ‘Creating Diamond: The Game!' on Wednesday 21st July at 16:00pm. Everyone is welcome to tune in as this webinar is specifically aimed at a general audience and no previous knowledge is required. Are you ready to make a scientific breakthrough in one of the biggest research facilities in the world?

**Diamond: The Game is a board game, for 2-5 players, that lasts between 20-30 minutes. It puts you and your family and friends directly in the role as a researcher at the Diamond Light Source, visiting different beamlines to make progress in a diverse range of scientific projects in Physics, Chemistry, Cultural Heritage, and more. As you travel around the synchrotron you will have to make the most of your experiments, as well as working with your fellow players, in order to be remembered as the most famous scientist!


Tune in on Wednesday to hear all about the creation of the game from co-creator Dr Mark Basham, who will take us through why he and his fellow creators Dr Claire Murry from Diamond and Dr Matthew Dunstan from the University of Cambridge wanted to create the game, how they went about it, and most importantly how you can play the game at home!

Diamond: The Game showcases both the research performed at our world-leading facility, but also gives you first-hand experience of the different aspects of actually working in scientific research. Whether it is the variety of science that exists, the timely value of a vital collaboration, the disappointment of a failed experiment, or gratitude for the help from a friendly staff scientist, the game puts you directly in the action so you can make your own choices about what type of scientist you want to be.**

Amy and David from our Public Engagement team will be joined by Dr Mark Basham, Research Fellow at Diamond Light Source and Director of Artificial Intelligence at the Rosalind Franklin Institute. Mark will share his insights into board game creation and will answer any questions you have about Diamond: The Game. Amy and David will be on hand to answer any questions you have about Diamond in general.
