Welcome to I14! We hope you are having a productive beamtime.

In this section you will find information about connecting to the I14 workstations and setting up, using and troubleshooting GDA.

To connect remotely you will need to download NoMachine to your computer. A full guide is given below:

Software/beamline help

GDA is the software used on the beamline. You can find out more information about setting up GDA and troubleshooting during beamtime here:

You can also refer to the beamline manual available in the control room.

If you are stuck out of hours, and cannot continue your experiment you can speak to your local contact via the EHCs.

Data analysis on the go

If you’re wanting to analyse your data as you go and need a reminder of how to go about data analysis, in the ‘After your beamtime’ section you will find a series of manuals and tutorials.

Need help during beamtime?

Your local contact is available to help you in person during work hours (9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, or as otherwise discussed). Outside of these hours, you can contact them via the EHC office. Ring the EHCs via the control room phone on 8787, and they will let your local contact you need help. When they are available, they will ring you back on the control room phone.

You may want to check the beamline manual (available in the control room) to see if the issue can be solved with the information provided there.

For out of hours emergencies contact the EHCs (8787) in the first instance then RAL security (2222).
