Electron Energy Loss Spectroscopy (EELS) is a common spectroscopy technique available on many electron microscopes and complementary to EDX. It is an analystical tool to charcaterise both the spectral and spatial properties of a sample. It involves measuring the kinetic energy of electrons aftr they inelastically scatter with the sample.
