Both solid and liquid samples can be measured at B18. Solid samples can be in the form of powders, films, electrodes, etc.
If your samples are powders:
The best way to measure them would be in the form of a pellet. At B18, 13mm and 8mm pellet makers are available.
Here is a video showing the pellet preparation process.
If you have liquid samples:
We have several liquid cells of various thicknesses and geometries that you can use, based on your sample compositions. The thickness of the sample that will be in the beam is the most important aspect to be considered.
https://henke.lbl.gov/optical_constants/ is a useful website to estimate transmission through liquids, capillary walls (if your samples are to be measured in a capillary), air absorption, etc.
