XRF Resources

A wide range of beamlines covering a variety of XRF techniques and experimental conditions.

An extensive range of dedicated sample environments:

Support and on-site training during experimental time from Diamond's experts in Spectroscopy.

Dedicated laboratories (for wet, dry and characterisation) equipped with sample preparation equipment:

Pellets Press - to enable users to create pellets from powdered material.  This makes the sample area much more compressed, allowing for richer data acquisition.

Drying Oven - for sample preparation, to ensure the optimal conditions ahead of your experiment.

Centrifuge - used to separate fluids, gases or liquids based on density. This separation helps when interpreting molecular spectra using spectroscopy.

Glove box - two are available in the spectroscopy labs (dry but solvent tolerant Ar, and O2-free but water tolerant.)

Fume hoods -  these will limit your exposure to hazardous or toxic fumes, vapors or dusts. The wet labs have two fume hoods each and a deionised water supply.

Cryo-microtome - allows you to cut extremely thin slices of material, to optimise your spectroscopy experiments.

Streamlined protocols for the safe storage and sample changeover of radioactive materials.

Training - including our annual PyMCA workshop for new XRF users and a summer school providing training on the full range of Diamond research techniques.
