Matt Spink

Biography

Matt completed his undergraduate degree in Cell Biology at Durham University in 2009. Under the supervision of Dr Martin Goldberg he studied for an MScR in Microscopy investigating the structure and function of the nuclear pore complex.

Matt went on to work for Avacta, as a lab analyst. In 2012 Matt joined the University of Reading as an electron microscopist and was supervised by Dr Peter Harris and Professor Geoff Mitchell. In 2014 Matt joined Dr Liz Duke's team at Diamond. He, with the rest of the team helped establish soft-x-ray tomography of cells as a technique at Diamond.

Matt then joined the ePSIC and eBIC team as a focused ion beam support scientist in 2019. His roles include user support, maintenance and development of the focused ion beam scanning electron microscopes and performing experiments in collaboration with users and the ePSIC and eBIC team.
