UHV samples can be prepared in an offline prep chamber that can be connected to the Tea Pot of C-Branch as displayed here.
The system allows for storage of 6 samples. Samples can be transferred by a load lock, which is compatible with the Prevac vacuum suitcase used for B-Branch ES-1.
For sample cleaning, the Prep Chamber is equipped with a sputter gun and allows for sample heating up to 1000 K. Sample cooling is possible in consultation with the beamline staff. For sample characterisation, a QMS and an MCP-LEED are mounted.
