Diamond now hosts a new Offline SAXS User facility. Jointly bid for by Diamond and Leeds University the facility, funded by the EPSRC, will offer complementary materials science measurements to those available on I22. A contract was placed with Xenocs to bring one of their first Xeuss 3.0 Q-Zoom instruments to Diamond. The Diamond-Leeds SAXS facility (DL-SAXS) is located in a new purpose built laboratory and include Sample Environment Development facilities.
DL-SAXS has recently come through a rigorous programme of commissioning and is now in its optimization phase with users from Leeds University before offering it to the wider community. 25% of the available beamtime on the instrument will be made available via PRP for measurements and run by a dedicated technician supported by the Diamond SAXS team. Look for DL-SAXS in UAS!
The Offline SAXS instrument, Xeuss 3.0, from Xenocs, has been delivered with both an Excillium Gallium MetalJet and Molybdenum Microsource options.
The instrument has a sample chamber with a standard set of sample holders for solids, liquids and gels both for in air and under vacuum measurement.
The instrument is equiped with an Eiger R 1M for SAXS data collection. Details of each of the sample hodler and other additional samples holders can be found in the sample environment section.
