Rapid Access time is awarded to projects needing beamtime very soon. Typically we aim to schedule a rapid access visit between one week and three months after the receipt of the application.
The three steps for application are shown in the flow chart above.
All visits will be supported by a local contact whom you can contact in advance of the experiment with any questions you have.
Please apply using the steps outlined above.
Programme Access is for users appling for beamtime split over a period of up to two years. In MX, most users apply as a Block Allocation Group (BAG), where those in the same research institute or working on collaborations apply together share the awarded beamtime between them. If you do not wish to join a BAG you can apply for programme access for your individual research group.
Calls for proposals close on the 1st April and 1st October each year. Awarded beamtime is scheduled in 6 month allocation periods from April to September and October to March.
The application steps are as for BAG allocation except that on the proposal you select Programme Mode.
