Carlos Sato Baraldi Dias
Carlos is a beamline scientist at Diamond Light Source, where he joined in 2025. His work focuses on developing advanced X-ray imaging techniques with emphasis on three-dimensional imaging. Before joining Diamond, Carlos led the HIKA beamline project at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in collaboration with DESY in Hamburg, and previously worked at the Brazilian Synchrotron Light Laboratory (LNLS) as a beamline scientist. He also spent time as a postdoctoral researcher at UCLA, contributing to cutting-edge imaging research. Carlos earned his PhD in Physics in 2014 and has dedicated his career to designing and operating beamlines as well as creating data analysis pipelines that enable users to better run experiments.
