Opening a Bank Account

You will need to open a bank account in the UK so that you can have your salary paid into it.

Most of the leading banks will require you to have an address in the UK before you can open an account with them. Some of them may accept a letter from your employer so it is worth contacting them to see if this applies.

To open a UK bank account, you need to contact a local bank, ask what their requirements are to open an account and what sort of accounts they offer as some banks offer different accounts. You may also be able to do this online if you have a UK address.

To open a bank account the following documents will be required:

• Passport or EU National Identity Card.
• Details of bank accounts held in your own country.
• Proof of employment.
• Proof of address in UK.
• Proof of address in your home country.
• A list of your home addresses for the previous 3 years.
