B07-B has two focal points and two endstations:
ES-1: High Throughput UHV XPS
This endstation consists of an ultra-high vacuum (UHV) system with sample preparation chambers and fully automated sample transfer and manipulation for XPS and NEXAFS measurements up to 10-6 mbar. As well as individual samples, a 50x50 mm2 sample plate is available for mounting multiple samples which do not require elaborate preparation.
ES-2: Ambient Pressure NEXAFS
This endstation enables NEXAFS measurements (TEY and TFY modes) of samples that either do not require UHV or are incompatible with vacuum conditions (i.e. liquids, heavily outgassing materials). The experimental chamber allows pressures up to 1 bar and is separated from the beamline by a silicon nitride membrane and acoustic delay line. It will also be available for the development of new or less common detection techniques for soft x-ray absorption spectroscopy (such as x-ray fluorescence and optical luminescence) in combination with scanning probe techniques.
