We recommend using Diamond's FTP (File Transfer Protocol) service for transferring datasets less than 20GB.
To access the FTP from Windows, Linux or Mac, you will need the following:
Note, whichever ftp client software you choose, it must be capable of encrypted authentication, specifically the ftpes explicit encryption protocol. If it is not capable of ftpes, you will not be able to authenticate.
The following example is for WinSCP, which you can download from here.
dls/beamline/data/YYYY/experiment-visit |
If it is taking a long time, try our transfer system for large datasets (>20GB) here.
There are many command line ftp clients available for Linux. It is known that "lftp" is compatible with explicit encryption required by the Diamond FTP server. "lftp" is available for most Linux distributions in the standard software repositories.
Type the following into your terminal:
lftp -u yourfedid fedecks.diamond.ac.uk |
lftp is a very powerful client capable of resilient and parallel transfers. Read the man page for full details. You will probably need to set the following option:
set ssl:verify-certificate no |
Example below:
phil@phil-Advent-4211 ~ $ lftp -u fmx47643 fedecks.diamond.ac.uk Password: lftp [email protected]:~> set ssl:verify-certificate no lftp [email protected]:/m02/data/2016/cm14490-3> ls drwxrwxr-x 2 37641 116403 4096 Jun 28 16:19 NatD_Snapshots dr-xrws--- 8 37500 116403 4096 Jun 16 14:45 processing drwxrws--- 2 37500 116403 4096 May 16 23:01 spool drwxrws--T 2 37500 116403 4096 May 16 23:01 tmp drwxrws--- 2 37500 116403 4096 May 16 23:01 xml lftp [email protected]:/m02/data/2016/cm14490-3> |
Alternatively, use a graphical ftp client such as FileZilla.
The following example is for FileZilla, which you can download from here.
