InfraRed Analysis Training - QUASAR

To address the InfraRed user community's need for a user-friendly and open-source software for IR data from hyperspectral analysis to nanospectroscopy, Diamond Light Source in collaboration with Soleil and Ljubljana University is organising a 3-day hands-on workshop on the use of the QUASAR software.

Date
01/11/20222022-11-01 - 03/11/20222022-11-03
Location
In person at Diamond Light Source

Overview

This 3-day hands-on training will take place at Diamond Light Source and is targeted at users (current, future or potential) working on the broadest range of IR research applications, spanning from biomedical imaging, material/engineering microanalysis, physical-chemical sciences, cultural heritage or archaeology, geology and space science, nanoscience and more.

The purpose of this event is to provide a complete training on the usage of QUASAR using tutorials and examples on real-life IR microscopy (or Raman) and IR imaging datasets, including possibly IR nanospectroscopy.

What is QUASAR?

QUASAR is an open-source software for hyperspectral imaging techniques (based on the Orange machine learning and data visualization suite).

QUASAR allows user-friendly analysis using visual programming. Routine tools like baseline correction, normalization, different versions of EMSC, differentiation and smoothing can be combined with multivariate statistical and machine learning methods, such as principal component analysis or various clustering methods. Savable and shareable workflows ensure consistent analysis across different projects, or the development of different analysis to same large dataset. Visualization tools enable quick inspection of the data and the results of the analyses.

Application

APPLICATIONS ARE NOW CLOSED

Please note that places on this training course are limited. In the case of oversubscription there will be a limit on attendees per organisation. Participants will be selected on a fair distribution basis across the research groups, giving priority to early career scientists.

If your application is successful, there will be a £100 fee to attend the event. Meals and refreshments will be provided throughout the events and will be included on the fee. Applicants will be required to cover the cost of their accommodation and the cost of their transport to and from Diamond. We will provide more information on accommodation and travel to successful applicants once confirmed.

Speakers

  • Ferenc Borondics, SOLEIL (France)
  • Christophe Sandt, SOLEIL (France)
  • Marko Toplak, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia)
