Cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) is the investigation of a sample with an electron microscope at cryogenic temperatures. It involves a beam of electrons fired at a frozen protein, the scattered electrons are collected and detected in roder to work out the structure of the frozen sample.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
