Polarised soft X-rays are produced by two undulators in the I10 straight section. The beamline is based on a plane grating monochromator design with the first collimating optic, M1, being a toroid (collimates in the vertical direction, images the source in the horizontal direction at the exit slits position) and the focussing optics (M3 and M5) being sagital cylinders (image the source in the vertical at the exit slit position). In reality there are two focussing optics, M3 and M5, each designed to reflect and image the source down either the scattering or absorption branch respectively. Following the exit slits there are toroidal mirrors, M4 and M6, to image the exit slits onto the sample positions.
