We will contact you in advance of your arrival to make arrangements for your first day. Under UK legislation, we are required to check that you hold permission to live and work in the UK before you start work. You can evidence this with your passport and your vignette with entry clearance stamp and/or your BRP. You must bring your identity documents as above to your Research Support team for copying before work commences. If you have not yet collected your BRP before your first day, you can start work on the basis of your vignette provided it is still valid. Where appropriate, you then must obtain your BRP from the Post Office as soon as possible and present this to Diamond.
Some people need to register with the police after arriving in the UK with a visa, or after getting permission to stay for longer in the UK.
If you need to register, you must go to the police within 7 days of you:
Check if you need to register with the police here.
Please see the UK Immigration webpages here.
Diamond will issue a Certificate of Sponsorship which requests a ‘multiple entry’ visa. If you are successfully awarded ‘UK Visa Entry Clearance’, this would allow you to enter and exit the UK, for the period that the visa is valid subject to approval by immigration officers at the UK Border.
Further guidelines regarding freedom to travel abroad are available here.
Before you travel abroad, you should contact the embassy of the country you want to visit, to check whether a person with your immigration status will be allowed to enter that country.
Any changes to your circumstances that might affect your visa status must be reported to your Diamond Host and Diamond’s Research Support team.
Diamond is required by law to report certain changes to your circumstances to UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) within 10 days of the change. Failure to do so may result in the individual’s visa being withdrawn.
You must follow Diamond polices for recording absence and annual leave. Failure to do this may impact on your permission to remain in the UK.
Diamond must be able to demonstrate appropriate monitoring of absences for all individuals sponsored under the Temporary Worker scheme. This is a mandatory requirement on Diamond and would need to be evidenced should we be subject to a Home Office audit.
Before implementing any changes in circumstances listed below please check with Diamond’s Research Support team in the first instance. A change in circumstances may include:
