Diamond recognises that the closure of universities, laboratories and research facilities in response to the pandemic may be causing difficulty or delay for your students. If this is the case, we are willing to consider up to a possible 6-month funded extension to the project, if the university partner is also willing to extend the project and provide matched 50% funding for the extension period. (Please note: projects with different funding models are expected to provide equivalent matched funding in line with the original studentship agreement).
While we are willing to consider extensions for all students affected by the COVID-19 closures, in order to manage the number of requests we receive, an extension request will only be considered if it is submitted during the final 12 months of the studentship.
Requests must be submitted online here.
For studentships where the impact is not yet known (e.g. first and second year studentships) we will consider extensions at a later date. Please do document as best you can any impact on your studentship during this time.
If you have a studentship that is funded by both ISIS and Diamond, please send your extension requests to both Diamond (via the online form) and Martin Jones at ISIS ([email protected]).
We appreciate that in these unprecedented times it might not be clear what approach your university is going to take towards PhD studentships, but do not hesitate to contact [email protected] if you have any questions regarding your studentship.
