My area of research has revolved around MOFs and their suitability for heterogeneous catalysis, drug delivery and gas selectivity. Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have structures consisting of extended co-ordination networks of metal centres connected by bridging organic ligands. There has been a rapid growth in the study of MOFs in recent years due largely to their potential for porosity and the extensive range of applications that derive from this, including gas storage, separations and drug delivery.

I am now a beamline scientist on the B18 beamline, while also involved in the development of the SWIFT beamline.

I also have experience with material characterisation including; FTIR, Raman, gas sorption, TGA, UV-vis, ESI-TOF mass-spec and XRD techniques. I am also involved in Beamline hardware and software design, testing and development alongside the design and software engineers here at Diamond.

At Diamond I designed, tested and implemented new sample environments for I20-EDE. One recent example is a plug flow-reactor and portable gas delivery system. These are adaptable systems that can be used in a variety of user setups, involving all types of gases from the inert to the toxic flammables. These have been used by the user community to look at heterogeneous catalysis and gas storage and selectivity to date.
