    The Temporary Worker - Government Authorised Exchange (GAE) category is for those individuals coming to the United Kingdom through approved schemes that aim to share knowledge, experience and best practice through work placements, whilst experiencing the wider social and cultural setting of the United Kingdom.

    The UK Research and Innovation (“UKRI”) - Science, Research and Academia Scheme (“the scheme”) is a Temporary Worker Government Authorised Exchange Scheme that allows Diamond, as one of 12 organisations endorsed by UKRI, to issue a Certificate of Sponsorship.

    UKRI’s endorsement is on behalf of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and enables Diamond to issue Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) in support of sponsored researchers seeking to come to Diamond to undertake any one (or more) of the following activities whilst experiencing the wider social and cultural setting of the UK:

    • Participation in a formal project or collaboration (funded by Diamond, the sponsored researcher, overseas employer or a funding body)
    • A period of work-based training, work experience, internship or placement;
    • Skill development or knowledge transfer
    • In order to give a series of lectures that do not amount to a formal teaching post;
    • In order to act as an examiner
    • Sponsored researchers include academics, researchers, scientists, research engineers or other skilled research technology specialists hosted by Diamond in a supernumerary role

    The scheme covers a broad spectrum of engagements and is intended to offer significant benefit to the research community by allowing for flexibility.
