Visitors may come to the UK to undertake research or be taught about research at a UK higher education provider for up to six months provided:

  • they are enrolled on a course of study at least degree level; and
  • that the research or research tuition is relevant to the course of study they are enrolled in overseas and that they will not be employed at the UK higher education provider; and
  • they must have been accepted by a UK higher education provider to undertake research or be taught about research.

The research or research tuition referred to above may be undertaken at a UK research institute, such as Diamond, providing a formal partnership exists between the research institute and the UK higher education provider for this purpose.
