Diamond Light Source Ltd (“Diamond”) is a joint venture company funded by the United Kingdom Government via the Science and Technology Facilities Council (“STFC”) and by the Wellcome Trust. The shares are owned by STFC (86%) and the Wellcome Trust (14%).
Diamond operates from Diamond House, Harwell Science and Innovation Campus, Didcot, Oxfordshire, United Kingdom and employs over 600 scientists, engineers, technicians and support staff. Diamond is the United Kingdom’s national synchrotron facility and by accelerating electrons to near light speed, Diamond generates brilliant beams of light which are used by thousands of researchers to conduct research in a wide range of disciplines.
This statement by Diamond’s Board of Directors is published in accordance with Part 3 of the Criminal Finances Act 2017 to communicate and endorse Diamond’s position on preventing the facilitation of tax evasion.
Diamond’s Board of Directors expects all Diamond’s staff to demonstrate honesty and integrity at all times, and to exercise high standards of professionalism and ethical conduct in all their activities whether in the UK or overseas. Diamond also expects all its partners, advisors, agents, clients, customers, suppliers, contractors, consultants, collaborators and all stakeholders to adopt the same standards.
Diamond’s Executive Committee is responsible for supervising and reviewing the development and implementation of Diamond’s risk assessment and prevention procedures to mitigate the risk of facilitation of tax evasion. Where risks are identified, reasonable prevention procedures proportionate to the size and nature of the risk will be implemented.
Diamond has a zero tolerance approach to the facilitation of tax evasion. Diamond is committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business relationships and to implementing procedures to prevent the facilitation of tax evasion. Diamond will not engage with organisations that do not have reasonable procedures in place to prevent the facilitation of tax evasion.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
