This technology has the potential to reduce CO2 emissions and reduce domestic fuel bills, thereby contributing to the alleviation of fuel poverty. In partnership with a small local company (Sunamp Ltd.), we are incorporating these phase-change materials into “heat batteries” that are able to store thermal energy for hot-water and heating applications. The work at Diamond enhances our understanding and provides confidence that the materials will continue to function over extended periods – essential if heat batteries are to be installed in a domestic environment.
