We'd like to hear from you! We are looking for people who:
Our core programme is a four year Level 3 Engineering Technician in Mechatronics Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET Accredited) which means you’ll develop as a multi-skilled electrical, mechanical and electronics technician – perfect if you’re undecided on a specialism or would like to be trained in a variety of disciplines. We are currently able to offer this to a new entrant at the start of the first year of the programme, or to an existing apprentice looking to transfer from an existing programme due to not having an employer or other global and/or economic circumstances outside of their control.
There are many benefits of apprenticeships to both Diamond and its employees and the benefits are not limited to those who are new joining us. At Diamond we also use apprenticeships to develop our existing employees, for example we currently have a number of employees studying for a bachelor’s degree in engineering as apprenticeships (Level 6 product design and development engineer). In addition to this and our present vacancies, there are also other apprenticeships that are currently being undertaken at Diamond which are also featured on this page.
This is a four year Level 3 Engineering Technician apprenticeship focused on maintenance operations within Diamond. You’ll learn the skills and knowledge in order to maintain, repair and install electrical mechanical services (e.g. Pumps, motors, air handling units, compressed air, lighting, electrical control systems, fire systems).
This 3 year Level 3 apprenticeship will be in collaboration with the UK’s National Physical Laboratory (NPL), a world-leading centre of excellence in developing and applying the most accurate measurement standards. You will be expertly trained to use state-of-the-art, computer controlled, scientific instruments to perform accurate length and angle measurements of a variety of high-performance motorised stages for micro- and nano-positioning.
Electricians install, maintain and repair electrical systems in industrial, commercial and domestic environments. Electricians might work in both indoor and outdoor settings. Electrical equipment and systems may include switchboards, motors, cables, fuses, thermal relays, fault current protection switches, heating, lighting, air conditioning and metering equipment as well as crime and fire alarm systems and renewable energy technologies. They are able to work on their own proficiently and work without immediate supervision in the most efficient and economical manner. Maintenance Electricians work on the maintenance of electrical and electronic installations including automated production systems. Duties include the supervision of the equipment, its maintenance and necessary repairs.
