HRH The Princess Royal yesterday visited Diamond Light Source, ten years after HM Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, officially opened the facility.
The visit marked two celebrations, the double anniversary of the facility and the opening of our latest structural biology beamline, the Versatile Macromolecular crystallography in situ (VMXi) beamline.
HRH The Princess Royal toured the facility, visiting three beamlines and meeting a widespread range of Diamond's staff, both researchers and those who help underpin the smooth operation of the facility.
Following the tour she unveiled two plaques to mark the occasion, and kindly spoke a few words to the assembled audience, praising our ten years of world-class research, our exciting plans for the future and our consistent efforts to engage with the public through events such as our regular open days.
Diamond Light Source is the UK's national synchrotron science facility, located at the Harwell Science and Innovation Campus in Oxfordshire.
