The transmission curves of the beamline (left figure) have been measured for all combinations of cPGM mirrors and gratings and the photon flux was measured using a photodiode at the sample position. The photon flux for the beamline transmission in the energy range of the carbon K-edge was measured through total electron yield (TEY) from He gas in the end station (right figure).
Au 4f spectra (left, middle) from a sputtered foil were recorded at different N2 and H2 pressures between 10-5 and 30/40 mbar (photon energy = 900 eV; exit slit = 0.05 mm; pass energy = 20 eV). Au 4f XPS peak intensity (right) as a function of N2 and H2 pressure for different photon energies. Symbols: integrated peak area of the measured Au 4f signal; dashed/solid lines: model calculation for photoelectron path length of 0.25 / 0.38 mm.
Temperature-programmed XPS spectra during heating of a Pd foil in 1 mbar O2. Pd 3d - 2D plot BE vs temperature and Pd 3d spectra at selected temperatures (above). O 1s / Pd 3d3/2 2D plot BE vs temperature and O 1s / Pd 3p3/2 spectra at selected temperatures (below). Photon energy = 750 eV; exit slit = 0.05 mm; pass energy = 10 eV. Time per single spectrum about 40 s.
