The I13-1 Coherence beamline generates X-rays in the 6-20 keV range with a coherence length in the experimental hutch of up to 1mm, allowing for a wide range of advanced imaging methods applicable across multiple scientific application areas. Some examples of these applications along with the range of available imaging modalities are described below.
Optics
I13-1 primarily operates in a focussed probe mode, using blazed Fresnel zone plates to condence the beam down to approximatley 200nm. The zone plates are produced from Au on SiN substrates and maunfactured by XRnanotech, with pinholes from Agar Scientific and in-house central stops.

Motors & Stages
The sample positioning and scanning motors are assembled in a stack, as shown below. The X-ray path follows the Z-axis.
The twin-robot diffractometer operates relative to the sample stack, as shown below, with adjustments in Phi and Theta between 0 and 30 degrees.
