Welcome to day 22 of the Diamond Industrial Liaison advent calendar, only a few days left until the big day! Today we wanted to show you the industry areas that synchrotron light can be applied to.
Diamond's facilities are unique in the world for the non-destructive detailed analysis and modelling of strain, cracks and corrosion as well as in situ study of materials during processing, providing valuable tools for aerospace research and development.
Unravelling the chemical and electronic properties of compounds is a real challenge due to chemical heterogeneity, sample nature and sensitivity to various conditions (gas flow and composition, temperature, pressure). Operando studies on chemical processes is crucial to design new reactions and manufacturing processes and it provides fundamental insights into the science of chemistry.
Understanding matter at the nanometre scale is crucial for design of electronic materials and devices with finely tuned properties and behaviours for a huge range of applications.Diamond’s facilities are unique in the world providing a range of research techniques that will enable electronics companies to exploit fully the new and emerging technologies of the 21st century.
