The following highlights some of the main features of the new flagship beamlines. Flagship beamline SWIFT (SpectroscopyWithIn Fast Timescales) This SWIFT beamline, the layout of which is shown in Figure.4, is designed for studies of dynamic phenomena with Quick-EXAFS in the hard X-ray region in areas such as chemistry and catalysis, metalloenzymes, battery research, environmental and earth sciences. It will employ a multipole wiggler source, quick-scanning DCM (50Hz, 4-35 keV), fast detectors and fast data acquisition electronics. The beamline will include two end stations, one for high flux, operando studies in dilute systems, using a 100 µm x 100 µm size beam, the second for chemical mapping with a small focal spot of 20 µm x 20 µm. A number of different sample environments for operando studieswill be provided. Flagship beamline K04 The K04 beamline (Fig. 5) is designed for Macromolecular Crystallography and Fragment Based Drug Discovery. It will replace an existing side-station I04- 1, which is fixed energy and based on a short 0.7m ex-vacuum insertion device, with a new variable energy beamline with a 1.6 m in-vacuum undulator as its source. This will provide massively improved flux which when coupled with a state of the art endstation fed from a fully automated sample preparation laboratory with associated data management and analysis results in a step Figure 4.
