Using a previously identified clinical candidate, GSK used Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) to investigate the potential activity of a highly selective compound, with enhanced potency and selectivity.
The aim of the study was to target a key signalling molecule and treat a range of inflammatory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The resulting inhibitor would be bioavailable, effective at low doses (preventing toxicity) and would be suitable for oral delivery. Find out what they discovered.
