Sam Burholt joined the School of Food Science and Nutrition at the University of Leeds in May 2019, working in the Diamond/Leeds team after having completing a Master's degree in Chemistry with Forensic Analysis at the Univeristy of Reading, looking at the forgeries of pound coins via XRF. He then progressed to a PhD in Chemistry under the supervision of Prof Ian Hamley. This PhD introduced Sam to the world of SAXS/WAXS through the study of bio-active self-assembling lipopeptides. He has been working on the new offline SAXS instrument since installation in mid-2019.
