Not least due to the current circumstances, the DL-SAXS beamline will be offering users a mail-in service. The service will be offered as a result of successful Rapid Access Proposal submitted via UAS.
This webpage is to provide information about dates when beamtime will be available, deadline for proposal submission, the proposed instrumental setup and sample shipping dates.
As DL-SAXS moves into an operational phase we plan to move to offering a regular Rapid Access service. To keep things simple we plan to run Rapid Access samples from the first Monday for 6 days of every month.
Next available dates until Christmas 2021 are show below. We will continue to run Mail in samples mounted in the I22 Sample capillary racks and grids ONLY.
With a move to this mode there will not be any defined deadline to Rapid Access calls and time will be offered to all applicants subject to normal checks.
Proposals will be assessed as soon as they are submitted, NOT after any deadline.
Please use this Rapid Access proposal form, uploading it as your science case when you submit a proposal.
To get through the process, including shipping of kits and samples to and from DLS, we suggest proposals are made at least 1 month prior to expected measurement.
Energy 9.2keV (using the Ga MetalJet)
Camera Length 0.5 - 4.5m (Selected by user)
Q Range covered 1-500nm (Dependent on camera length)
Once you receive confirmation about awarded beamtime, you can expect a delivery from the DL-SAXS team with sample holders and preparation materials.
You will be required to fill in the Mail-in Experimental Form, closely following all instructions (the closer you follow the instructions, the easier it will be for the beamline scientist to run your samples correctly!).
Next, you are expected to prepare samples, pack them carefully and send back to us providing all safety documentation via UAS. Instructions on sample preparation can be found within the Mail-in Experimental Form.
