Polarised soft x-rays have had an enormous impact on our understanding of magnetic phenomena and magnetic (nano)materials. X-Ray Magnetic Circular Dichroism (XMCD) and X-Ray Magnetic Linear Dichroism (XMLD) have allowed insights into the origin of fundamental effects such exchange bias and magnetic anisotropy. Soft X-ray Resonant Magnetic Scattering (SXRMS) is rapidly becoming a powerful probe of charge, orbital and spin ordering in transition metal oxides. The coherent properties of soft x-rays have also been recently exploited with coherent x-ray speckle spectroscopy and magnetic holography. The operational Nanoscience beamline (I06) and BLADE (I10), which is currently under construction, offer new possibilities in soft x-ray imaging and spectroscopy using PhotoEmission Electron Microscopy, SXRMS, High Field XMCD/XMLD as well as time resolved capabilities. This workshop concentrated on recent results from I06 and future prospects for research on I06 and I10.
