The Diamond industry team are heading for Hamburg for the Biostruct-X Industry Workshop from 15th-17th June. We're looking forward to discussing the ways in which industry would like to work with us and their suggestions for collaborative projects where and how we could help add value to their projects. In return, we're hoping to share some of the latest developments at Diamond, giving an update on new techniques available, the latest technical developments and upgrades and our services.
It's a full programme - Alex is speaking in the first session, highlighting options for industrial interactions and collaborations with Diamond covering the whole range of integrated structural biology facilities here on site. Elizabeth is chairing Session 2 - BioStruct-X platforms II on Monday with Claire acting as chair for the SAXS session on Tuesday 16th June. Diamond's Liz Duke will be presenting the latest developments in cryo X-ray microscopy on Day 3.
Synchrotron structural biology facilities are recognised as core technologies used in many pharmaceutical and biotech companies along with facilities for protein preparation and other characterisation platforms. Efficient and effective access to synchrotron technologies and techniques can have a large impact on research efforts an can increase competitiveness at a national and international level. Understanding the needs of both clients and technology service providers is critical to the continuing success of these relationships.
The The EU funded project BioStruct-X coordinated by EMBL-Hamburg supports access for established and emerging key methods in structural biology and comprises 11 facilities from across Europe together providing 44 installations for applications in small angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS), macromolecular X‐ray crystallography (MX) biological X ray imaging (XI) protein production and high throughput crystallisation (PP & HTX).
To further promote the exchange of knowledge, needs and approaches between industrial scientists and BioStruct-X facility partners, a three day workshop is being held on the DESY campus in Hamburg.
