Training sessions for users of the Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) beamlines.

The Diamond Light Source Macromolecular Crystallography group would like to invite both our academic and industrial users to MX beamline training sessions on the 3rd and 4th July 2019.

The aim is to provide MX users with sufficient training to be able to operate any of the Diamond MX beamlines efficiently and to get the most benefit from their beamtime. The training will involve hands-on sessions on the suite of five operational MX beamlines as well as optional offline software sessions.

Sessions include:

Welcome & Registration (including lunch) on 3rd July, 12:00 - 13:00

3rd July 2019 – Hands on software

  • MX software: automation in data analysis
  • MX software: DUI, CCP4, advanced DIALS
  • Experiment database: ISPyB

4th July 2019 – Beamline sessions

  • Multi-axis goniometry, anomalous data collection and the new Eiger2 detector
  • Introduction to the dedicated in situ beamline VMXi
  • Microbeams and serial crystallography
  • Fragment screening in crystals
  • Long wavelength MX experiments
     

REGISTRATIONS

Places are limited to 25 participants.

Registration is free-of-charge and includes a catered lunch on the 3th and 4th July, as well as accommodation and dinner for the night of the 3rd July.

Travelling expenses within the UK will also be provided.

The training is targeted at all users, and is not limited to students and post docs. It is essential that each BAG sends at least one representative per calendar year.

Parking on Campus:

Due to a large number of building works on site, parking on the Harwell Campus is extremely limited and visitors’ parking cannot be guaranteed. We strongly recommend travelling by public transport, where possible, if you are attending an event at Diamond.
