Event Details

Organised jointly by the Italian Embassy in London, Diamond Light Source, the ISIS neutron facility and the UCL Institute for Sustainable Heritage, the Cultural Heritage and Advanced Technologies symposium will be held on 13th November 2014 at the Italian Cultural Institute, 39 Belgrave Square, London, SW1X 8NX.

In the symposium UK and Italian experts will demonstrate how advanced technologies, mainly in the field of chemistry, engineering and physics, can provide useful tools for in depth investigation and conservation of tangible Cultural Heritage.

The symposium will highlight the latest advances as well as providing the occasion for researchers and experts in the preservation of cultural heritage to meet and to explore novel opportunities for collaboration offered by emerging technologies.  A recent example of the intervention by Finmeccanica in the protection of the archaeological site of Pompeii will be presented.

Prof. Luigi Nicolais, President of the Italian National Research Council, will open the symposium.
