Dr. Ralph Püttner graduated in physics at the Leibnitz-Universität Hannover, Germany, in 1993. In 1998 he received his PhD from the Freie Universität Berlin, Germany under the supervision of Prof. Günter Kaindl working on the field of soft X-ray photoabsorption on atoms and small molecules in the gas phase. After a post-doc position at the University of Oulu, Finland he returned to the Freie Universität Berlin and obtained a permanent research position in 2001. He works on atoms and molecules in the gas and the liquid phase using soft- and hard X-ray spectroscopic tools at both Synchrotron radiation facilities and Free electron lasers.
