
Ashish Chainani obtained his B.Sc. (1985) and M.Sc. (1987) degrees from University of Mumbai, India, and his Ph.D. (1993) degree from the Indian Institute of Science, India. He did his post-doctoral studies at Tohoku University, Japan. He then joined Institute for Plasma Research, India, to work on plasma-based synthesis of materials for applied research. From 2003 to 2016, he worked as a Senior Research Scientist at RIKEN SPring-8 Center, Japan. Since 2016, he is working as a Scientist at the National Synchrotron Radiation Research Center, Taiwan. His research is focussed on using synchrotron-based spectroscopies for studying the electronic structure of materials which exhibit metal-insulator transitions, magnetic transitions, superconductivity, charge density waves and the Kondo effect.
