Job Description

  • Lead the development of accounting policies, and of effective and robust financial systems and processes across the Company.
  • Ensure appropriate standards of Corporate Governance are maintained throughout the Company, in respect of all financial matters.
  • Provide financial reports and information, in a timely manner, to budget holders, directors and the Board, and provide sufficient analysis and supplementary information to support management decision making, with particular emphasis on achieving the optimum allocation of resources and best value for money.
  • Plan and manage the annual budget setting and regular re-forecasting exercises across the Company, including supporting the Executive Directors in developing the Strategic Plan.
  • Plan and manage the production of the annual statutory accounts.
  • Plan and manage the production of financial reports and information for shareholders and BIS.
  • Take the lead in managing our relationship with external advisors for all Audit and Tax matters
  • Responsible for managing the Company’s cash flow, banking, and treasury matters.
  • Manage all aspects of Corporation Tax and VAT, including returns to and liaison with HMRC. 
  • Liaise with the shareholders and other stakeholders and STFC as a supplier
  • Recruit, manage, lead and develop the Finance team
  • Contribute to the development of managers’ financial awareness 
  • Advise the Director FCS, and where appropriate the Board, on all financial matters including Corporate Governance, taxation, other relevant legislation and accounting best practice.

Qualification & Experience - Essential

  •  Ability to lead and manage the Finance team.
  • Ability to plan and to prioritise work so as to ensure timely delivery of information and reports.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to analyse (financial) data and understand the structure and behaviour of the Company’s costs.
  • Ability to build successful relationships with external advisors, shareholders and Diamond managers
  • Knowledge of current accounting standards as applicable to Diamond
  • Knowledge of VAT, Corporation Tax and PAYE regulations to a sufficient degree to be able to recognise potential issues and resolve them, if necessary with professional assistance.
  • Experience of being responsible for the preparation of annual budgets & forecasts and of statutory accounts
  • Experience of systems development and implementation
  • Experience of leading and managing finance teams
  • Experience of financial analysis & control
  • CCAB Qualification

Qualification & Experience - Desirable

  • Knowledge of HMG FReM and Budgetary procedures
  • Experience in project and major asset accounting
  • Graduate
