Dr Katsuaki Inoue obtained his PhD from Graduate School of Science, Hiroshima University in Japan. Katsuaki has joined SPring-8, the 3rd generation synchrotron facility in Japan, in 1997. After spending 2 years as a postdoctoral research associate in RIKEN, he has got a beamline scientist position at Japan Synchrotron Research Institute (JASRI) and completed the construction of 2 SAXS beamlines and has been in charge them. Along with the beamline jobs, he has developed his skills and knowledge on the structural analysis of protein molecules with SAXS. He moved to the UK in 2008 and joined B21 team as a senior beamline scientist.

Dr Inoue’s research interests focus on elucidating the relationship between the function and the structure of biological molecules. He has also studied kinetics at Hiroshima University and has many experiences on developing special equipment for the kinetic study. Along with SAXS studies on protein molecules, he is also currently undertaking the research with Diffracted X-ray Tracking technique.
