Tools

The Tools perspective holds a number of important functions and is the location for many of the beamline specific properties. Typically, this perspective contains rarely used options and the functionality is split in to two tabs.

Hardware Tab

The hardware tab of the Tools perspective contains some more rarely used options.

Two further options:

  • The beam centre can be re-marked on the screen (make sure any frontlight is set off)
  • The rotation axis can be aligned

These should not be used unless a problem is clear (check beam position with the scintillator first (see BeamOptics) and try a realign) - the beam automatically aligns regularly during a visit and the beam centre is reviewed daily by beamline staff. The rotation axis is reviewed daily by beamline staff.

Beam Optics Tab

The beam optics tab of the Tools perspective gives some options for selecting the beam that reaches the sample.

  • The scintillator can be moved in and out of the beam to show the beam
  • The aperture can be selected
  • The beam focus mode can be selected
  • The transmission can be changed
