Connect to nx.diamond.ac.uk via NX player Windows
Connect to ixx-ws001 (e.g. i02-ws001) via NX player for Linux
Start GDA: open the folder beamline _launchers and double click on the icon
Start Albula/ADXV: open DLS_launchers and double click on the icon
Do not attempt a remote connection to access Diamond MX beamlines outside your scheduled beamtime for data collections or a pre-agreed test time with the beamline responsible. If you wish to use Diamond facilities for processing data after scheduled beamtime please follow the instructions here to log on to nx.diamond.ac.uk.

If you are experiencing a slow connection, please try PuTTY to connect to Diamond.
This is a two step process. First you need to connect to nx.diamond.ac.uk and secondly to the mx beamline.
Download and install NX player 5 Client from nomachine.
Download the configuration file to connect to Diamond. To execute: double-click on the icon and choose to open with NX player.
NX player for Windows will start, enter your FedID and your password:
Click on "New desktop":
Choose "Create a new virtual desktop" then "Continue:
You are now connected to nx.diamond.ac.uk. You can change the display option by clicking on the icons below:
At any time you can change the screen settings by clicking on the top right corner of the screen:
Now you need to connect to the beamline workstation. Open NoMachine in "Applications", "Internet", "NoMachine":
To create a new connection choose "New":
Choose "NX" as protocol for connection:
Enter the name of the computer where you got beamtime: ixx-ws001.diamond.ac.uk
Replace ixx by i02, i03, i04, i04-1 or i24. i.e. for i04 enter i04-ws001.diamond.ac.uk
Enter a name of the connection then choose "Done":
Choose the connection you just made then click on "Connect":
Enter your FedID and your password:
Choose "Create a new virtual desktop" then "Continue":
You can change as well the display options:
You are now connected to the Beanline working station where you got beamtime. Open the beamline launchers and make sure you double click on 'Start New GDA Client':
After starting GDA check in "Messages" / "Beamline notes" for any information relevant to the beamline that day:
Check the status on the top left corner of GDA to determine if you control the beamline. If the Baton is red, you will need to request it to the current holder. Right click on the Baton circle to open the Baton menu (for more options see Baton panel web page).
You can request the Baton by clicking 'Request Baton'. This will send a request to the holder. You can also send message to the baton holder via the Baton panel (see Baton panel web page).
Once the holder has agreed to release the Baton, your status will turn to green. You can now control the beamline and sample changer as if you were on the beamline. For instructions on how to use GDA, please refer to the relevant section of our manual.
To display your diffraction images, we recommed Albula. To start the software, open the folder 'DLS_Launchers' and double click on the relevant icon.
At the end of your experiment, quit GDA and close your NX player in "System" then "Log Out".
If you wish to test the procedures for remote access from your lab to a beamline at Diamond prior to your first remote access experiment please contact your local contact who will arrange for a test visit during a shutdown or a machine day (typically Tuesday). This will allow you to familiarise yourself with the software and check all network, etc work well.
