Current Research Interests

My current research is focused on magnetic imaging at the nanoscale. My interest is about understanding the mechanisms of formation and manipulation of domains in ferroic materials (ferro/antiferromagnets, ferroelectrics, multiferroic) and on composite multiferroics, where materials with different ferroic orders are coupled through interfaces.

I graduated in Physics at the Universita’ Di Parma with a master thesis on transport properties of semiconductors in extreme conditions. I made my Phd at the Elettra synchrotron (Trieste) on Ferromagnetic Semiconductors, on the beamline APE, using soft X-ray Resonant Aborption (XAS) , X-ray Magnetic Dichroism (XMCD/XMLD) and Photoemission. My interest then moved to X-ray imaging and did a post doc on the Nanospectroscopy beamline, on Low Energy Eelectron and X-ray Photoemission Electron Microscope (LEEM/X-Ray PEEM), studying ferromagnetic thin films and devices.

I have a long experience on synchrotron beamlines, user support  and on LEEM/PEEM microscopy, particulary with XMCD and XLD/XMLD as imaging contrast method. I have contributed to develop the PEEM microscope of I06 beamline with the design of cartridges and control units to offer a wide range of sample excitations and environments.
