DAC powder diffraction
User and beamline supplied DACs can be fitted on the diffractometer and the micro-focus station for powder diffraction. Larger sample environment chambers (e.g., small cryostats, high-temperature vessels) can only be fitted on the diffractometer (collimated beam from 70 to 20 microns).
Ambient pressure powder diffraction
From capillaries to samples held in specialised containers such as metal containers.
Please contact beamline staff.
Typical PDF experiments on I15 use a 76 keV (0.1631 Å) X-ray beam and the Perkin Elmer 1621 area detector placed close to the sample, giving access to a maximum Q exceeding 22 Å−1. Capillary samples can be used with a 12 position capillary sample changer. Low- and high-temperatures (100-1100 K), achieved with hot- and cold-gas blowers, are available upon request.
