Diamond has recently been joined by a new Head of Finance, John Harvey.
John comes to Diamond from the pharmaceutical industry and has previously worked in a number of senior finance roles in the technology and biotech sectors.
Commenting on his new role, John says: “I’m excited to be taking on this new challenge. The research that Diamond supports is helping to improve society for everyone. I’m proud to be part of a project that is delivering new medicines, pioneering digital technology and smarter engineering and energy solutions.”
He continues: “My experience in the research sector has equipped me well, but there’s still lots to learn and I’m looking forward to getting to grips with Diamond and the work we do here.”
Formerly Vice President of Finance at a local pharmaceutical company: Prosidion Ltd, Oxford, John also worked for some years further afield. As Vice President, Corporate Controller at Allied Telesyn International, John worked in Seattle gaining valuable experience of international financial management & reporting.
John graduated from St Andrews University with a degree in economics. He later trained as a Chartered Management Accountant, an auditor with Ernst & Young and a financial analyst with Dell.
He will be managing a team of 13 staff who are responsible for the financial management of Diamond and the handling of the synchrotron’s accounts.
John comes to Diamond at an exciting time as we move from being a machine in construction to a fully-operational facility. As such, he will oversee the financial management of new beamlines, buildings and initiatives within Diamond.
